Is your name Rintelen, von Rintelen, von Rinteln or von Renteln? If you are not a member of the Family Association, but would like to know more about your possible relationship to the Rintelen family, or would like to join the Family Association*, please contact us, either by mail or e-mail.

Genealogical information on the basis of the current state of our family research is provided by the Family Association only to private individuals. For the general public we offer our genealogy book, which documents the family tree of the Rintelen from the beginning of the 14th century. The book may be ordered by mail from the Chairman. For an advance payment of 25,- € the book will be sent to you by mail.

If you would like to know more about your connection to the Rintelen family, we are especially interested in the following information:


  • Name, first name

  • Date and place of birth

  • Names, date and place of birth of parents and, where appropriate, the mother's maiden name

  • Names, date and place of birth of any children

  • As much information as possible about grandparents, great-grandparents and other ancestor generations, especially when related by marriage


*All persons of legal age can become full members if they belong to the Rintelen family descending from the Herford patrician lineage or are Rintelen as a result of legitimate birth or marriage, as well as women who are born Rintelen or von Rintelen. The same applies to the family v. Renteln, which attributes its ancestry to Thidericus de Rintelen, who died in Hanover in 1321.

The spouses of a Rintelen, v. Rintelen or v. Renteln and their legitimate children may become associate members; other persons may only join with the permission of the Family Assembly.

The annual fee for full and associate members is 25,- €. Individual members and married couples pay the same fee.

Namesakes under the age of 21 will be listed as non-contributory members.
